White Mink

WHITE MINK is the zeitgeist-capturing speakeasy where the sounds and styles of the 1920s and 30s are turned on their head and smuggled into the 21st century.

What started out as a launch party for our compilation CD series; White Mink : Black Cotton (Electro Swing vs Speakeasy Jazz), became the accidental hub of a clubbing scene and subsequently a hot festival circuit attraction. White Mink also runs the regularly sold out Electro Swing nights at London’s Book Club, our own pop-up nights and has hosted stages at dozens of major UK festivals since 2009.

The production company is run by a stylish triumvirate of Nick Hollywood, Chris Tofu and Dan O’Neill. Under the White Mink name they bring together the finest DJs, VJs, live bands, dancers, cabaret and burlesque performers for an unforgettable and unrivalled speakeasy experience.

Variously described as the "godfather of electro swing" (The Guardian) and a "suave impressario" (The Independent), Nick is a serial zietgeist-spotter, DJ and record-producer. Widely regarded as a luminary of the lounge, cabaret and burlesque revivals of the late '90s / early naughties, Nick first rose to notoriety as the co-founder of Club Montepulciano, a legendary name that became hugely influential in leading a cultural re-imagining of vintage inspired themes. Following a long and successful run with Club M, Nick launched Freshly Squeezed Music, his own label, which in turn has enjoyed critical acclaim and album chart-topping success with White Mink: Black Cotton, a series of double CD compilations featuring 1920s and '30s influenced dance floor sounds versus rediscovered and remastered gems from original 78s.

Freshly Squeezed Music is the spiritual home of electro swing, with artists like Swing Republic, Jem Stone (formerly Soul of Man, Finger Lickin' Records) and Nick Hollywood really shaping the sound of the scene.

Since its inception, Freshly Squeezed has built up an increasingly enviable catalogue and the label is home to a diverse and groundbreaking range of artists, including Swingrowers, Atom Smith and Little Violet.

A festival veteran, DJ and promoter well known to hundreds of musicians, Chris has booked and curated stages at literally hundreds of major UK festivals over many years. He was the genius programmer behind Glastonbury’s phenomenon Lost Vagueness and now books the Shangri-La field as well as 25 other stages annually.

A passionate promoter of new music styles and culture, Chris can regularly be found behind the decks or on the mic at the Book Club and is also a partner in the UK’s premier circus, cabaret and music booking agency, Continental Drifts.

Dan is a music business guru who manages Groove Armada (amongst others), and was the brains behind their famous and ground-breaking partnership with Bacardi, which caused huge waves throughout the industry. Dan is the shadowy background figure pulling strings behind many huge events like the Lovebox Festival, of which he is a director. He brings his cutting edge vision and Midas touch to White Mink.
